Welcome to Plein Air
Australia's NSW South coast
Celebrating January 2024 with two different locations Scarborough/Wombarra Cemetery then next we head down to the Coldale Rock Pool.
Starting the Year off by getting out in nature Plein Air painting, I head down the East Coast and my first stop is at the Stanwell Tops for a cup of coffee while waiting at the Tops I watch the colourful hang gliders as they walk off the edge towards the Sea to catch the first breeze.
Even though I would like to capture these gliders in flight I would be hanging on to my canvas for dear life so I make my way down the winding road further South.
I have a location in mind the headlands of the Scarborough/Wombarra Cemetery with its amazing views up and down the coast facing the Pacific Ocean.
I'm surprised run into another friendly early morning Plein Air painter taking some quick photos of different vantage points, we exchange ideas of what views would make an interesing painting and other locations that could work.

I spend about an hour and a half at this site and am reasonably happy with the results and with the sun starting to bite I give a quick wave goodbye and head a couple minutes further South for a change of scenery.
I say goodbye to the Cemetery and end up at the Wombarra Rock Pools their are so many beautiful compositional scenes to choose from, I settle on the edge of the pool where the tide flows against the pool wall washing up bright green seaweed sending it swilling around.
